WeCanvas ("we," "us," or "our") operates the ourcanvasspace.com website and the WeCanvas mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
• Phone Numbers: When someone is invited to a canvas, we may collect the phone number they enter for themselves after signing in to WeCanvas from a secure invite, on the public SMS consent page, or inside account settings. We only use a phone number for WeCanvas SMS delivery after that person directly opts in for their own number.
• Content You Share: Photos, text posts, and other content you share on your canvases are stored to provide the Service.
• Usage Data: We may collect basic usage information such as pages viewed, features used, and interaction timestamps to improve the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• Send canvas updates and notifications via SMS (only with your explicit consent)
• Process canvas invitations you send or receive
• Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
• Improve and develop new features for the Service
• Send administrative messages related to your account

3. SMS/Text Messaging

WeCanvas uses SMS text messaging to deliver canvas invitations and activity notifications. You may opt in through the public consent page at ourcanvasspace.com/sms-consent, after you sign in or create an account from a secure invite and then enter the phone number you personally use, or when you create an account and provide your phone number. Only after you provide explicit consent are any further messages sent.

By opting in, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from WeCanvas related to canvas invitations, new content notifications, and account-related updates.

Message frequency varies based on canvas activity. Message and data rates may apply.

Text STOP to cancel. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any WeCanvas text message. You will receive a one-time confirmation and no further messages will be sent. Text HELP for help, or contact us at support@ourcanvasspace.com.

We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your phone number or personal information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number will only be used to deliver WeCanvas service messages you have explicitly consented to receive. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of using WeCanvas.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use third-party services (Supabase for data storage, Telnyx for SMS delivery, Netlify for hosting) that process data on our behalf to provide the Service. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
• Canvas Members: Content you post to a canvas is visible to other members of that canvas. Your display name is shown alongside your posts.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or government request.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. Data is transmitted using SSL/TLS encryption. Access to our database is restricted through row-level security policies. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Canvas content is retained as long as the canvas exists. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP
• Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the legal basis

8. Children's Privacy

WeCanvas is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
